(6-21-06) WOW! Made the 850 mile drive last night and this morning. If you were a bug in Arkansas last night, I am fairly sure you are stuck to the front end of my car!

We got to the Galt house this afternoon and go our booth setup. Had a little snafu, was supposed to have my flyers stuffed into the AAW registration packets, and no one could find them. Seem the hotel did sign for them, and they were found behind the front desk (eventually), but too late for insertion.

The line to check in was massive, I guess they aren't used to this many folks trying to check in all at once. They even put up extra people to try and ease the issue and sodas and water in the lobby.

There are more than 1800 registered and the instant gallery and extra exhibits should be quite a sight.

I have been told that this many people should not present a problem in the demos. There was some concern that there wouldn't be enough room, but we will see.

Big discount for the first person to come by and say they read this.

6-23-06 Well tonight was the banquet and auction with attendance capped at 2400 people! Amazingly enough, the service and food went rather well with a few small exceptions. The food was pretty good, salmon and chicken with the requisite green beans and rice. It was a huge room at the convention center, and the acoustics were so bad it was hard to hear the announcements and auction, but it seems to have gone ok.
The demo areas were pretty packed in the areas that I could see. Since the demos are on multiple floors, i only get to see the rooms that are in my walking path back and forth.
The instant gallery was a very busy place with some of the most impressive work we have seen ever. More lively, inventive and beautiful than ever.

Well, after the long ride (850 miles) home, it is still the best bang for the buck for woodturners. The auction (with the money going to the educational fund) raised over $80,000 and one piece, a top from Bonnie Klien and Jack Vessery went for $11,000!
There were some new products introduced as usual, and you can see and read about them on the vendors page. Ifyou ever go to Luisville, go see the Museum Hotel, it is worth that trip alone!
