My bowls are traditionally made from trees that would otherwise be destined for landfills. They are taken from disease, storm or urban struggle, never just for the hell of it.

All of these bowls, unless otherwise noted, are intended for everyday use. They are hand finished with multiple coats of  food safe finish, then hand polished to a beautiful lustre.

The entire process of making a food bowl can take more than a year.

First, the tree is cut and then sawed into a bowl blank. Half of a log, with the edges trimmed. It is then rough turned, and left extra thick. All of the bowls are marked with the species and date.

At this point it is left to dry and distort. It will dry for anywhere from 6-12 months. After this, it is turned to it's final shape and thickness, and sanded.

The finishing step, while somewhat secretive, suffice to say that it takes quite some time, but is well worth the effort. The finish is perfectly at home at the dinner table, or the dinner party. Simple maintenance of wiping out and occasionally mild soap and water.
