Robust Parting and Beading Tool (1/4″) – Unhandled

Nominal size of the blade is 1/4” wide, 1/2” tall, but tends to run slightly larger. Hollow ground on an 8″ wheel with a 60 degree included angle. Great for parting and turning small details, like beads. 6.5” usable length. Tang fits ½” collet

Robust Narrow Parting Tool (1/8″) – Unhandled

Blade is nominally 1/8” wide, 13/16” tall , but the material runs a little oversize. 6.5” usable length. Hollow ground on an 8″ wheel to a 60 degree angle. Tang fits ½” collet

Robust Large Round Nosed Bowl Scraper (1″) – Unhandled

Our traditional large round nosed bowl scraper is made of nitrided premium high speed steel and measures 1” across and 5/16 thick. The bottom edges are radiused so that you can tip it at an angle for even more effective cutting.

The tang is rectangular, but will fit the 5/8″ collet

Robust Small Round Nose Scraper (1/2″) – Unhandled

Our small nose round scraper is perfect for adding little details to your turnings. The stock is 1/4″ thick and 1/2″ wide. Grind it at at a 7.5 degree angle to raise a slight burr on the top surface. Available unhandled. The tang rectangular, but designed to fit 1/2″ collets.

Robust Negative Rake Box Scraper (3/4″) – Unhandled

This negative rake box scraper has a unique cutting profile that makes it ideal for cutting the side walls and bottoms of end grain boxes. The small radius point at the bottom corner of the scraper creates a smooth transition from a side wall to a flat bottom. Made from nitrided High Speed Steel, it measures 3/4” across and9/32″ thick.

The bottom edges are radiused so that you can tip it at an angle for even more effective cutting. Sharpening just the bottom bevel maintains the nitriding on the top edge. The tang is rectangular, but will fit the 5/8″ collet

Robust Large Square Nose Scraper (1″) – Unhandled

Our large square nose scraper is the simple tool you sometimes need. It’s great for trimming surfaces flat on boxes and rims, and can be used to make very nice concave surfaces. Use the corner to make a groove, and the rounded bottom edges let you roll it up at an angle for shear scraping. The stock is 5/16″ thick and a little over 1″ wide. Grind it at at a 7.5 degree angle to raise a slight burr on the top surface. Available unhandled. The tang rectangular, but designed to fit 5/8″ collets.

Robust 1 3/8″ x 3/8″ XTRA Large Skew – Unhandled

The Robust large skew is made of M42 and measures 1 3/8” across and 3/8″ thick. The edge is beveled 20 degrees and has been hollow ground on an 8” diameter wheel before honing to a razor sharp edge. The cutting edge of the gouge has been ground to a gentle 2” radius. Robust consulted with noted turner Matt Monaco on the profile of this grind. The 2″ radius of the profile has a small return at the top, adding versatility for cutting beads and adding details.

The lower edges of the gouge have a generous radius to help rolling the gouge to make beads and coves. The top edges also have a small radius. The tang is rectangular, but will fit the 5/8″ collet in either of our ER Collet based handle systems.
