OK, you don’t get a free lathe.
Add this to the cart and we will call you about adding a Sweet 16 to your shop!

Sweet 16 – “Compact Capacity”
It’s not easy to improve something as good as our Sweet 16 lathe, but we listened and made a few changes we think you’ll like. We’ve added digital readout and moved the bolts that attach the gap section to a more convenient spot on top. Our improved caster design keeps the casters on the lathe and engage with a flip of a lever. Learn more by reading below and clicking on the tabs above.

REMOVABLE GAP: The main feature of the S16 is its removable bed section. Removing the section creates a gap to let you turn a bowl or platter up to 32″. Moving the section to the end of the lathe increases spindle turning capacity by 14″. The Sweet 16 video demonstrates these features in action.

BED DETAILS: The S16 is available with a Short, Standard or Long bed. Like our other lathes, it adjusts to your height. Ways are stainless steel.

MOTORS: All motors are high efficiency and industrial grade. The standard 1-1/2 HP motor can be wired either 110 or 220 volt. If you have 220v available, most people opt for the 2HP motor. There is no belt changing and the RPM range is 50-2900

DRIVE: The USA made VFD (aka “Inverter”) is mounted on the left side of the headstock and displays the spindle RPM. . Low end torque is ensured the use of a vector style motor drive and further augmented by using a smaller pulley on the motor than on the spindle.

SPINDLE DETAILS: The spindle is machined from pre-hardened 4140 Chrome Moly Steel and threaded 1 1/4 x 8 TPI. A metric version is also availalbe. Locking the spindle disconnects the controls, so no more burnt belts if you try to start the lathe with the spindle lock engaged. 48 position indexing is standard.

STANDARD FEATURES:

Removable gap section to increase diameter and length capacity
Digital RPM readout

OK,you don’t get a free lathe.
Add this to the cart and we will call you about getting an American Beauty for your shop!

ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT: The American Beauty adjusts to fit you and each leg adjusts independently. The apron that holds the legs have lips to mount a shelf for tools or to add more weight.

POWER TO SPARE: Low end torque is ensured by the vector style motor drive with auto tune. The motor drive (aka: “VFD” or “Inverter”) is housed below the lathe in the leg assembly, protected and out of the dust. Motors are high-efficiency and industrial-grade. In addition, there are two belt ranges: high speed and high torque.

CONTROL: The corded pendent controller is fitted with two rare earth magnets and can be moved anywhere on the lathe except the stainless steel ways, which are non-magnetic. You can start and stop the lathe, change direction and change speed all with this unit.

BEARINGS: We use heavy duty 6300 series which carry 40% more dynamic load than the bearings the competition uses. Because of this, we are the only lathe manufacturer to warrant the spindle bearings for a full seven years. That’s two years longer than any other major lathe manufacturer warrants anything.

SPINDLE: Spindles are machined from pre-hardened 4140 Chrome Moly Steel. The bearing journals are precision ground to within 0.0003″. Standard spindle size is 1 1/4″ – 8 TPI. A metric spindle threaded 33 x 3.5 is also available. Spindles incorporate a safety groove for a set screw.

Here’s a popular feature: locking the spindle disconnects the controls, so you can’t start the lathe. So no more burnt belts.

HEADSTOCK AND TAILSTOCK: The headstock is relieved in front, allowing great access to the back of the work. The headstock and tailstock are made from cast iron poured in a US foundry and then precision CNC machined to exacting tolerances. To move them, lift the large lever, slide to the new position, and push down on the lever to lock in place. To ensure center alignment, push both against the back way when you lock them down.

INDEXING: 48 position indexing is standard.

BED CONSTRUCTION: All Robust lathes come standard with stainless steel ways. We fabricate the bed using 3/8″ thick structural steel square tubing. The tube is set on the diamond – letting the chips fall away much better than a round bed or a cast bed with reinforcing ribs. Bed extensions are constructed of the same heavy materials.

TILT-AWAY: The optional and patented Tilt-Away gets the tailstock completely out of the way and allows you to quickly and easily bring it back into position. Add a gas shock and make repositioning the tailstock a one finger operation.

STANDARD FEATURES:

Sliding Headstock
Stainless Steel Ways
25” Inboard Capacity, 60” Outboard
Adjustable Spindle Height
Corded Pendant Controller
2 HP Motor – 220 volt
Premium Vector Drive with Auto-Tune
Variable Speed, Forward/Reverse
Graduated Quill

POPULAR OPTIONS:

3 HP upgrade – 220 volt
Patented Tilt Away
Tilt Away Gas Shock Assist
Long Bed
Outboard Turning Attachment
Auxiliary 110 volt power strip
